The bicentennial of the birth of Queen Victoria offers an occasion to reflect on both the monarch herself and the age to which she lent her name. UR Professor of History Stewart Weaver will discuss a few key episodes that shaped contemporary public perception of the Queen and that continue to define for us the meaning of "Victorian."

Held to celebrate the opening of a new exhibition in Rare Books & Special Collections, Victoria: A Ruling Image, this talk will be immediately followed by a reception in Rare Books, 2nd floor Rush Rhees.
