One of the greatest symphonies of all time closes out the RPO's 2022-23 Phils season. Written over the course of six years (1888-1894), Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 was the composer's first significant work exploring his lifelong perspectives of the afterlife, and established him as a leading composer of his day. An all-embracing work, it is the first of Mahler’s symphonies to use lyrics and music to create an experience that resonates with audiences long after leaving the concert hall.
