Part II: The Underground Railroad Please join the Lower Falls Foundation to complete the southern portion of the GRT. This hike comes in just under 6 miles and will begin at the Genesee Valley Park, walk north to Maplewood Park and the Lower Falls Gorge. This tour will include educational stops along the trail highlighting the fascinating history of the underground railroad and the important people and places in Rochester that impacted the abolitionist movement. Participants will also gain a better understanding of how important the Genesee River was in delivering former slaves to freedom.
