Registration begins at 9 a.m. in the Kate Gleason Auditorium, followed by the keynote at 9:30 a.m. given by Stanley Byrd, Ed. D., Vice President for Diversity, Inclusion, and Human Resources, Empire Justice Center. Byrd will his share observations, experiences and action as a servant leader within the intersectionality of his identities as a spiritual, gay, Black man. Starting from social action that impacted change related to the HIV/AIDS epidemic within Black and Brown communities, his talk will move to highlight the installation of a gay church in the Black church tradition that includes a social justice ministry.
Following the keynote, participants will engage in one of two community-building conversations demonstrating how LGBTQ+ history and archival documentation from the past are relevant today. The Dialogues will reference and contextualize LGBTQ+ life in Rochester against the backdrop of local and national social justice issues.
