Good Monday morning. Here's our inside look at what's going on this week:
AutismUp will hold a vigil at Blue Cross Arena at 7 o'clock tonight in memory of 14-year-old Trevyan Rowe, and this morning, counselors are at Trevyan's school, School 12 on South Avenue, to help students and staff.
Meantime, city and Rochester school district officials are beginning an investigation into the tragedy, looking both at what happened to Trevyan and why his absence at school wasn't reported more quickly. Like other media, we'll be following that story.
On a much lighter note: The Rochester Broadway Theatre League announces its 2018-19 season Wednesday afternoon. The big news about that season is already out, of course: "Hamilton" is coming to Rochester. Its dates and the length of the run haven't been announced yet, though.
Coming up with CITY, in print and online: Arts editor Rebecca Rafferty takes a look at the folks behind a unique cultural exchange between Rochester and Nagaland, a remote state in Northeast India. The exchange has yielded an international film festival designed to help preserve and amplify the cultural expressions of the indigenous Naga people. The driving force behind the exchange and many other efforts are Heather Layton and Brian Bailey, two Rochester-based artists, educators, and cultural ambassadors.
Immigration writer Jake Clapp previews a panel discussion focusing on the plight of an important group of Upstate farmworkers: undocumented immigrants. At an event at the University of Rochester later this month, farmworker-rights activists from Washington State will join activists from the Rochester area to discuss the immigrants' concerns and avenues for change.
