The 115-year-old Lilac Festival announced details of its 2013 edition this morning, including a new official title for the event -- the Rochester Lilac Festival. The festival will run May 10-19 in Highland Park. The festival grounds will be open daily 10:30 a.m.-8:30 p.m. and admission remains free.
Headliners for the festival main stage this year lean more toward the rock and funk end of the spectrum, including The Spin Doctors (May 11), Rusted Root (May 16), Marshall Tucker Band (May 15), The Smithereens (May 17), and Eddie Money (May 12). The festival will also feature performances by a variety of the area's top music acts. The current schedule appears below.
In addition to the live entertainment, the festival will host several special events, including three nights of wine and chocolate tastings, the annual Lilac Parade (May 11), the Art in the Park arts and crafts show (Saturdays and Sundays), and the Lilac 10K and Family 5K races (May 19).
