World Music | Irondequoit Chorale

by

There is Christmas music, and then there is the Caribbean Christmas Mass, sung by the Irondequoit Chorale with the Panloco Steel Drum Band. Performed at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and more, the "Caribbean Mass" was composed by Eastman School of Music instructor Glenn McClure. His work is described as a mixture of classical and ethnic. The 75 voices of the Irondequoit Chorale are conducted by Eric Trumpowsky. The four members of Panloco combine steel drum, electric guitar, and percussion. And you thought you wouldn't be able to get your teenager into church for the holidays?

The Irondequoit Chorale performs Sunday, December 22, 3 p.m. at Asbury First United Methodist Church, 1050 East Ave., $8-$12, theirondequoitchorale.org.
