VOCAL | Lotte Lenya Competition

by

The Lotte Lenya Competition Finals will return to Eastman School of Music on Saturday, and this year, the stakes have been raised. Top prizes of $10,000, $15,000, and $20,000 (the competition's largest prizes) are up for grabs among 14 musical theater singers, which have been narrowed down from 266 initial applicants. Finalists hail from across North America and as far as France and Israel. The panel of judges features music director Rob Berman, stage director Anne Bogart, and Tony-winning actor Shuler Hensel. If you love show tunes, you'll have ample opportunity to see up-and-coming singers you may just see again on Broadway one day.

The Lotte Lenya Competition Finals will be held on Saturday, April 22, at Eastman School of Music's Kilbourn Hall, 26 Gibbs Street. Full performances from 11 a.m. through 4 p.m.; evening excerpted performances at 8 p.m. Free of charge. 274-1000; esm.rochester.edu; kwf.org.
