Notes from the weekend

by

we found this past weekend buzzing with creativity as we visited the Rochester Mini Maker Faire at the Riverside Convention Center on Saturday and caught the tail end of the Holiday Bazaar and Craft Show at the Rochester Museum and Science Center on Sunday.

The Mini Maker faire brought dozens of inventors, tinkerers, artists and more together to show Rochester what they have been working on. There were Spectra Illuminated Electric Violins that offered a musically inspired light show. You could build your own Morse Code hand keys with the XRX Amateur Radio Club, and watch a 3-d printer at work with the Le Monyne College Maker Zone.

The Holiday Bazaar and Craft Show had many unique gems among the wares displayed by hundreds of the of craftspeople. Richard Birkett had an array of quirky clocks with customizable slides and photo slots and Cindy Gates created intricate cross-stitch pieces that merged an old world art with modern images.
