KIDS/LIT | Rochester Children's Book Festival

by

This year's Rochester Children's Book Festival — an annual literature wonderland for kids — is slated for Saturday, November 4, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Monroe Community College's Flynn Campus Center (1000 East Henrietta Road). Forty-five children's authors and illustrators will be there signing books, and participants will give presentations and readings in three different rooms every half hour. There will be opportunities to create book-related crafts, and all programs will be ASL interpreted.

Award-winning and bestselling returning authors include Nikki Grimes, Linda Sue Park, Vivian Vande Velde, and Jane Yolen. New to the festival this year are three local authors who will debut new books at the event: Keely Hutton worked closely with Ricky Richard Anywar for her first novel, "Soldier Boy," which is based on his story; Andrea Page's debut book "Sioux Code Talkers of World War II" is about her great-uncle John Bear King's service as an Indian Code Talker in WWII; and Joy Keller will present her new picture book, "Miss Turie's Magic Creatures."

Admission is free, but books will be available for purchase. More information and a full lineup of participants is available at rcbfestival.com. Questions can be submitted through the site.
