Temporary Public Art Installation
Deadline: March 15 | Rochester Contemporary Art Center
Accepting 2D art proposals for three images to be exhibited to the public 24/7 for 4-6 months on the exterior of Rochester Contemporary Art Center. Artists will receive a stipend and use fee for exhibiting. Guidelines can be found on the website under the "READ" tab.

Call for Exhibitions
Deadline: April 15 | Hartnett Gallery at the University of Rochester
Now accepting proposals from artists, groups, and curators based in the US to exhibit work during the 2024-2025 academic year. Selected artists are guaranteed at 3 to 4 week exhibition, assistance installing the exhibition, a $1,000 honorarium paid at the end of the exhibition, an opening reception and public artist talk, and more. Clothesline Arts Festival

This year's festival, which runs September 7-8, marks the 68th year for Clothesline. Open to artists from across the country, it's the largest and longest running arts festival in Rochester. More info and application at

ImageOut call for Art

National call for artists of all backgrounds and identities to submit work in any medium exploring the evolving struggle for LGBTQIA+ rights and representation for the "Queering Democracy: Art, Identity, and Politics in 2024" exhibit in the fall of 2024.

Rochester Teen Film Festival
Deadline: June 28 | Rochester Teen Film Festival
A collaborative, juried media competition for youth (ages 13-18) in the Greater Rochester region and beyond. The event honors the work of urban, suburban, and rural teen filmmakers and provides young people an authentic opportunity to participate in a real film festival. Screening, awards, and reception to take place on Aug. 1 at The Little Theatre.

Visual artist submissions

Acceptable mediums include but are not limited to: painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, photography, digital art, video, mixed media, site-specific installation, performance art and others. Selected artists will be contacted directly by gallery staff via email or phone, and will be considered for inclusion in solo or group exhibitions, artist talks, special events, and curatorial projects.

Throughout the year, FCAC accepts exhibition proposals in all three of its program areas: printmaking and book arts, ceramics, and photography and digital arts. Send an email with a detailed show proposal, 15 - 20 images of current work, a list of materials, sizes, and prices for each, a CV or resume, and an artist statement via email to the head of the appropriate department. Due to the volume of submissions, you’ll only hear from the center if they’re interested in showing your work, but your proposal will stay on file for one year. Creative Capital 2025 Open Call
Deadline: April 4 | Creative Capital
In celebration of its 25th Anniversary in 2025, Creative Capital welcomes innovative and original new project proposals in visual arts, performing arts, film/moving image, technology, literature, multidisciplinary, and socially engaged forms. Unrestricted project grants of up to $50,000 will be awarded via a democratic, national, open call, external review process. Approximately 50 individual artists creating conceptually, aesthetically, and formally challenging, risk-taking, and never-before-seen projects will be funded.

Equipment Access Grant for Filmmakers
Deadline: Rolling | Squeaky Wheel
Recipients will receive up to $1,000 worth of equipment usage and facilities time, and a free 1-year Squeaky Wheel membership. Anyone in Western New York is eligible, and BIPOC, women, queer, trans and gender non-conforming people are especially encouraged to apply.




2024 Teaching Artist Cohort
Deadline: Mar. 11 | The Center for Craft, Asheville, NC and The Windgate Foundation
Twenty mid-career craft artists who teach will be awarded a $10,000 grant and a 6-month cohort experience with workshops designed to help participants sustain a generative practice as artists and educators and develop a network of craft artists through peer-to-peer learning.

Are you interested in sharing your expertise and getting paid to do so? Teaching Artists ROC places teaching artists from all disciplines in area schools, after-school programs, senior centers, civic/cultural spaces and local events. Mentorship and presentation coaching are provided. Apply to join the roster of presenters online.

C.O.M.P. Studios
Ongoing | Rochester Contemporary Art Center
C.O.M.P. Studios gives selected artists free studio space for 1 or 2 month engagements, culminating in public open studio hours on First Fridays.
